YOUTH ENGAGEMENT RESIDENTIAL
The Frontier Centre in Northamptonshire was the March venue for young people from TMO areas to come together for a weekend of fun, adventure and planning. The event was sponsored by the Terry Edis Trust and the young people enjoyed an action packed activities weekend and took part in a number of adventurous activities including a 30 foot High Ropes course, Open Canoeing on the local river, Blindfold assault course and other problem solving games.
During the evening the young people worked through a Youth Engagement planning workshop where they took the lead in planning. Exploring and developing ideas of how TMO's can better engage with local young people.
Lots of new friendships where formed among the young people who have established links on a variety of Social Media platforms.Online groups will be formed and shared, allowing young people from other TMO's to engage and interact.
The young people are already planning for another event and the Youth leaders have committed to seeking funding to contribute to a follow up event in the summer. The weekend was supported by several youth organisations including PemPeople, South Central Youth Project, Walsall Positive Activities and East London Project X (ELPX)
